James_Bond_007April 17 Halle Berry playing Giacinta 'Jinx' JohnsonBorn in Cleveland, Ohio, USA on 14th August 1966 Starred In Die Another Day (2002)
film informationGiacinta ‘Jinx’ Johnson played by Halle Berry is the second Bond Girl in Die Another Day. In a tribute to the Bond series legacy, Jinx is first seen rising out of the sea Ursula Andress style, in an orange bikini. Bond and Jinx are seen in the bedroom later that night in a scene that creates more sexual tension than previously seen in a Bond film. The next day Bond follows Jinx to a gene therapy clinic to track down the location of Zao. After a fight with Bond, Zao manages to escape in a helicopter with Jinx shooting Zao's bodyguards as they leave the island. Jinx escapes from islands guards by jumping off a high cliff into the sea to a waiting boat. Bond and Jinx meet up again at Gustav Graves' ice palace, where she attempts to kill Zao once more, but gets caught. After being rescued by Bond she eventually discloses her true identity. Bond sends Jinx to contact Miranda Frost before calling for backup. However whilst Bond is involved in the car chase with Zao, Jinx is locked in Miranda's ice palace room when she turns out to be working with Graves. Bond manages to revive Jinx after being drown in freezing cold water after dealing with Zao. Towards the end of the film Bond and Jinx enter Korea where they board Graves' Antonov. Whilst Bond is dealing with Graves, Jinx gets stuck into Miranda Frost. Just when Miranda thinks she has the upper hand, Jinx catches her off guard and stabs her in the chest. Meanwhile 007 uses Graves' own electrical suit contraption to send him flying into one of the planes engines. Bond and Jinx escape in a helicopter that gets up to speed as it is falling to earth narrowly missing the ground. Bond and Jinx then share some intimate moments in a remote location covered in diamonds. character informationWorking for the NSA, Jinx works on the same case as Bond, to kill Zao. An expert markswoman, pilot and supremely fit, Jinx makes it clear she is more than Bond's equal. Using her skills and streetwise ability she manages to kill Miranda Frost at the end of the film whilst Bond kills Graves. Not one to be tied down to one situation or to one relationship, she comments to Bond that her relationships don't last. Unusually Jinx uses Bond as much for her own devices as Bond uses her, in her sexually aggressive attitude. other informationHalle Berry has the privilege of being the only Bond Girl to have won an Oscar for Best Actress; for her role in Monster's Ball. § Pierce Brosnan![]() Born in Navan, County Meath, Ireland on 16th May 1953 Starred In Goldeneye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999) and Die Another Day (2002).
film informationAfter 6 years since Licence To Kill, Pierce Brosnan stepped into the spotlight as the new James Bond in Goldeneye in 1995. Brosnan was actually considered to play the part of James Bond for The Living Daylights in 1987, but was tied into a contract to play Remington Steele in the TV series of the same name, which he had been doing now for some time. After the passing away of his wife Cassandra Harris (who incidentally played Countess Lisl in For Your Eyes Only) in late 1991, Pierce Brosnan took a break from filming for a while before appearing in a few films and then took the role of James Bond in Goldeneye in 1995. In 1995 the Bond phenomenon was quite unstable after the 6-year gap, with a waiving interest in the series. However Pierce Brosnan makes an explosive entrance in the role by making Goldeneye steal the title of "All-Time Biggest Grossing Bond Film" from Moonraker, which it had been holding it for 16 years. This title would be stripped from Goldeneye only 4 years later by The World Is Not Enough, with Die Another Day smashing all Bond box office records 3 years later. Perhaps the success of the Pierce Brosnan films is the fact that critics and audiences see him as one of the best Bond's since Sean Connery. Even though Connery's era ended in 1971, every James Bond is still compared to him, the very first James Bond. Pierce Brosnan continues to star in many non-Bond film roles eager to show like Connery that he is not limited to just playing James Bond. Pierce Brosnan currently lives in Malibu, California, with his wife Keely Shaye Smith. character informationWith the launch of Goldeneye, audiences got a glimpse at the new James Bond, Pierce Brosnan. His portrayal of the character is indeed similar to that played by Sean Connery, he's smooth, one with the ladies, relaxed and has a witty comment for nearly every occasion. Brosnan like Connery also seems to have the "darker" side to the character that is seen more in The World Is Not Enough, which adds more depth and scope to the character. Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day have all seen Pierce Brosnan’s portrayal of James Bond go through various changes. Brosnan’s Bond has developed into a more complex character, showing darker streaks to the character as well as being more vulnerable proving he is not invincible. This is especially true in Die Another Day when Bond is captured in Korea. How ever Pierce Brosnan’s character develops, hopefully he will once more strap on his tuxedo and don his Walther as he plays Bond, James Bond. § |
